Annual Members Meeting

Date:

A performance by Huddersfield-based learning disability orchestra Xylosound will be the centrepiece of South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s Annual Members Meeting.

The event takes place on Tuesday 19 September 2017 at Huddersfield Town Hall between 12pm and 4pm. There will be a showcase of Trust and partner services, a celebration of volunteers and a performance followed by the formal meeting. Refreshments will be available.

Entertainment will come from Xylosound, a music group of adults most of whom have special learning needs. The group makes music, performs and runs music workshops. They play xylophones, flute and percussion instruments with accompaniment from accordion and fiddle. Xylosound has received support from the Trust’s linked charity Creative Minds.

This will be the final Annual Members Meeting for outgoing Trust Chair Ian Black who has held the position since 2012 and was a non-executive director at the Trust for four years before taking up the chair’s office.

Ian said: “A highlight of past year has been the Care Quality Commission rating us as ‘Good’ and recognising the caring attitude of staff right across the organisation. We’ve also seen our £17m Fieldhead master plan project take shape with our new adult acute mental health in-patient Unity Centre due to be completed shortly. Of course, there are still plenty of challenges facing the Trust and we continue our improvement journey. The Annual Members Meeting is a great opportunity for people to find out about our work and future plans so I would encourage everyone to come along. I’m delighted that Xylosound will be there and look forward to their performance. Everyone is welcome – you don’t need to be a member to come and find out more.”
