WHAT’S IN A NAME?

A developing learning disability service is asking for input to the new service, and they’re also asking for people to name it! Staff at the South West Yorkshire Mental Health NHS Trust are keen to hear views from people who may use the service, their carers and staff.

The Learning Disability Assessment and Treatment service, based at Fieldhead, Wakefield, is holding a drop in event on 3rd December, 10-3pm in the Social Hall at Fieldhead.

The new unit is set to bring many benefits to people with learning disabilities in the Wakefield area, and it is due to open next May.

The listening event will provide information and interactive sessions about nursing, occupational therapy, speech therapy, physiotherapy and more. There will also be an opportunity to enter a competition to name the new unit.

Speaking about the event, Jo Baldwin, senior occupational therapist said, ‘This new service is vital to people who have learning disabilities in our area. It’s really important that the service is developed around their needs, and the needs of their carers and families. Anyone is welcome to attend the event, and they have the chance to make a permanent addition to the service by entering the competition to name it!’
