A day in the life of a safeguarding professional

Date:

A safeguarding expert from a local NHS trust is marking the first annual Calderdale Safeguarding Week (9 to 15 March) by taking to Twitter to share a ‘day in the life of a safeguarding professional’.

Emma Cox, named nurse for safeguarding children at South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, is taking part in a series of ‘day in the life’ Twitter takeovers organised by Calderdale Council to mark the week.

On Tuesday 10 March Emma will be providing a taste of her role by tweeting using the hashtag #SafeCdale15, covering a range of local safeguarding topics as well as sharing her experiences at a conference discussing the effects of vicarious trauma in safeguarding children.

The event will see health and social care professionals from across the Calderdale area come together to share best practice.

Emma said, “We’re delighted to be able to support the first Calderdale Safeguarding Week. Everyone has a role to play in safeguarding vulnerable children and adults at risk.

“I’m really looking forward to the day in the life – it’s not something we’ve done before and it’s a new way to engage with people and spread a really important message.”

You can keep track of Emma’s day in the life by following the Trust on Twitter using @allofusinmind or by searching for #SafeCdale15.
