Recovery College in Wakefield launches new prospectus

Date:

Wakefield and 5 towns Recovery College have launched a new autumn prospectus, offering a wide range of recovery focused educational courses available from September 2015.

The Recovery College, run by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, supports adults in their recovery from mental and physical ill-health by recognising and making the most of their strengths and talents.

The college has been developed in partnership with people who have experience of health problems, health professionals and local people – ensuring that courses offered support the needs of people in the local community.

Courses available vary in content, length and learning objectives, and include topics such as health and wellbeing, art and business.

Nicola Hartshorne, Wakefield Recovery College lead said,

“Our courses are a great way to broaden your knowledge, learn a new skill and meet new people. They are available to everyone, whether you have personal experience of health problems, are a friend or relative of someone with such an experience, or if you work in local health services.

“We have received great feedback from courses delivered throughout the past year and are looking forward to continued success with our new autumn programme.”

The College is based at the Garden Street Centre in Wakefield with a number of courses being delivered at other community locations throughout Wakefield and the 5 towns.

The Trust provides a range of mental health, learning disability and community services in Wakefield – as well as services in, Barnsley, Calderdale and Kirklees – where Recovery Colleges are also available. The colleges form part of a country wide change in the way we help people to recover from ill-health.
