Kitchen confidence on the menu in Wakefield

Date:

Increased confidence in the kitchen and tips on how to cook healthy, nutritional meals are on the menu at a series of free cooking courses run by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

The Cook and Eat courses, hosted by the Trust’s Wakefield community food and health team, are a fun way to help people make small changes in order to lead a healthier lifestyle, and can also teach attendees useful skills such as how to budget for meals.

They’re held in convenient locations across the Wakefield district, including in Castleford, Normanton, Featherstone and Hemsworth, from September through to December.

Along with the Cook and Eat courses, the community food and health team have also introduced an intestinal health course for people suffering from the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. The course will explore which types of food may aggravate the condition and take a look at foods that can help to alleviate the symptoms.

Beverley Juniper, team leader with the community food and health team, said: “Our Cook and Eat courses are a great way for families to learn how to cook healthy, hearty meals which will be perfect for the upcoming colder months. The courses are free, so you have nothing to lose, and I can guarantee anyone who attends will really enjoy learning new kitchen skills and trying new recipes which they’ll love to use at home.”
