Forensic service open day for carers, families and friend

Date:

Family members and friends enjoyed a range of activities at an open day within our forensic services earlier this month.

Service users from Newton Lodge, Newhaven and the Bretton centre got creative with a drama performance of “the Journeyman” – a story following the  journey of a person with mental health problems. Friends and family were also given the opportunity to view facilities and parts of the service which are usually not accessible to visitors and had chance to take part in different activities including horticultural therapy, the sensory room and flower arranging demonstrations.

Anita Theaker, Head of Forensic Social Work said: “This open day was a great way for families, carers and friends to spend time with their loved ones, learn about the different care and treatments we offer and see the fantastic work that goes on to support service users with their recovery”.

“I am really pleased that so many people were able to join us for the day and enjoy the different activities we had on offer. Feedback about the day from service users, carers and staff has been extremely positive and families commented that they were amazed at the facilities, support and care available.”
