Kirklees dementia friendly Saturday event wins award

We are delighted that the Dementia Friendly Lindley event in January has won a Huddersfield Examiner Community Award, for best community event.

Our Trust worked with the Kirklees Dementia Action Alliance, Kirklees Council, the CCGs and other partners to support a day of activity to raise awareness of dementia and Alzheimer’s in Lindley, helping to make it a Dementia Friendly Community.

There were a number of activities and events including a market place, children’s craft activities, local displays of ‘yester-year’, Dementia Friends, West Yorkshire Fire service, a dementia masterclass, a sensory walk, drop-in memory advice clinics and much more. At the event the whole family had an opportunity to learn a little bit more about the condition, which currently affects over 850,000 people in the UK.

The day was a great success with many people turning out for the activities and events. Congratulations to everyone who was involved in delivering such a great event.
