Self care week tips – wellbeing health checks

Date:

This year’s self-care week takes place from November 13-19 and the theme is embracing self-care for life. The aim is to help you stay healthy for your whole life.

At our Trust, we offer wellbeing health checks for all of our staff. These quick and painless tests check our staff’s stats to detect any dangers that might lead to illnesses in the future such as diabetes – especially important as it’s #worlddiabetesday.

Our tests check:

  • Blood glucose levels
  • Cholesterol levels

Did you know? Having high cholesterol doesn’t give you any symptoms, but can increase your risk of serious health conditions such as stroke or heart attack.

  • Blood pressure
  • BMI
  • Weight
  • Waist measurement

Did you know? It’s good to have a waist measurement of below 94cm (37ins) for men or 80cm (31.5ins) for women.
Body composition – ie bone mass, muscle mass, body water levels

Our health and wellbeing practitioner Scott Meynell said: “Health checks mean we can look for the sort of things that might not cause any symptoms now but could turn into something serious in the future – like high cholesterol. If there’s anything our staff do need support with, we’ll offer this on a one to one basis or may recommend that they visit their GP.”

We offer wellbeing support for #allofus. Find out more.
