Local MP visits children and young people’s mental health services

Date:

Huddersfield MP Barry Sheerman gained an insight into the work of our child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) and autism services when he visited our Trust recently.

Barry was welcomed to Folly Hall in Huddersfield by CAMHS General Manager Linda Moon and her team, who gave him an introduction to the support young people and families can access across Huddersfield and Kirklees.

The service is part of Thriving Kirklees, working in partnership with Locala, Northorpe Hall, Yorkshire Children’s Centre and Home Start. CAMHS provides care and treatment for children and young people with mental health conditions across Huddersfield, working closely with other organisations to make sure everyone’s needs are met.

Linda Moon said: “The emphasis of our service is to support children, young people and their families to enjoy optimal mental health and positive emotional well-being; this fits very well with our Trust’s mission to help people reach their potential and live well in their community “

Barry Sheerman MP added: “Mental health is a really important topic, and while as a country we’ve been making progress there’s still a lot to be done on discussing our mental health openly. It was great to visit Folly Hall and see the services CAMHS offer. I deal regularly with constituents who come to me for support with mental health services, and I know how vital it is to have top quality local provision.”
