Community learning disability nursing team

The Kirklees community learning disability nursing team provides specialist assessment, interventions, advice and care for adults with learning disabilities. We work closely with colleagues at Kirklees Council to ensure that adults with learning disabilities in the Kirklees are have the best possible care and support.

Whilst supporting service users with learning disabilities we also recognise the importance of supporting their family or carer through their care. We provide advice and information throughout their care and involve them where possible in the decisions made about their loved ones care.

Using our specialist expertise in learning disabilities we promote the needs and wishes of adults with a learning disability to improve their experience of using local services. Whilst the primary focus of our service is to support people in living with a learning disability, we also ensure that their physical and mental wellbeing is given equal attention, ensuring that care is provided on both an individual basis and in a group setting.
