Website feedback

We want to make sure our website is as helpful to you as possible. To do this we’d like your feedback. Please complete 4 short questions which will help us to improve our service and the information offered online.

It would be a good idea to show a video of the different kinds of stammering. We have taken advice from our own specialist and from national specialist centres. Their advice is that we do not make a video like this. This is because stammering can be so different from person to person. No one stammers in the same way. Your therapist will talk to you about what your child is doing. They can help you recognise when their stammer is changing. We also know that parents are good at knowing when their child is stammering.

We did

Instead, we have a link on our website to a DVD on the Michael Palin Website called “Wait, Wait.” This is recommended by the national specialist centres and parents report it provides helpful information.

You would like refreshments and biscuits on our training course.

We did

Wherever possible we are booking venues where refreshments are available.

You wanted our service and website promoted better

We did

Our service has been featured in all the editions of Aiming High magazine since March 2013.  Promotional postcards have been developed which provide details of the website along with a QR code to get quick access to the site via a Smartphone. The cards have been distributed to health centres, schools and other partner organisations. In addition, the website will be advertised in the Trust’s members magazine and on the Trust Facebook and Twitter pages.

You would like the service to run Parent Elklan.

We did

The service has run four Parent ELKLAN courses from Summer 2013 up to Summer 2014, and twelve parents have successfully undertaken this as an NVQ level 1 equivalent. Please see the training section for more details.

Parents of children at Greenacre School would like better communication regarding speech and language therapy appointments for their children. Parents indicated that they would be happy to receive appointments by text.

We did

Therapists are informing parents of appointments either by post or by text. The service is now routinely asking all parents for permission to send appointments by text.
