The Trust is delighted to be hosting a successful and ambitious approach to improving health outcomes regionally and nationally.
Altogether Better was founded on the firm belief that ‘community health champions’ have the potential to make a significant impact on health inequalities.
Started in 2008 with funding from the Big Lottery, Altogether Better supports community health champions to make a positive difference to the lives of their families, friends and communities. This normally involves a huge change in their own lives as well: read the amazing stories [external site] of some of the community health champions to see just how much people have put in to – and got out of – the Altogether Better approach.
As its principles are closely aligned with the Trust’s own vision and values, hosting Altogether Better within South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is expected to be mutually beneficial. Steven Michael, Chief Executive of the Trust, said, “Our shared intention is for the two organisations to develop a partnership which will establish the best possible future for Altogether Better. Equally, the Trust will benefit from Altogether Better’s knowledge and experience of community integration, supporting our mission of enabling people with health problems and learning disabilities to live life to the full.”
