The Green for Go project, run by Groundwork Trust, provides environmental volunteering opportunities for adults with learning disabilities, mental health problems, long-term conditions and those experiencing social isolation.
People involved are given the opportunity to take part in a range of gardening and environmental tasks which benefit the local community. The activities are tailored to suit those taking part and include tree and bulb planting, construction work, community clean-ups, hanging basket production and conservation projects. For those members in the group that want to help lead and deliver the project will be supported to form steering groups, become peer mentors and identify projects they would like to get involved in.
The Green for Go programme helps participants improve their overall health and wellbeing through meeting new people, increasing independence, learning new skills and boosting self-esteem.
