Service users on the Chippendale ward have taken part in puppet making. Puppetry has allowed them to create a puppet as a metaphor to describe life events and emotions and as a reflective aid.
Funding was used to purchase dressmaking materials and art materials to make the puppets. This was something completely new and hadn’t been done on the unit before.
The puppet making sessions gave services users the opportunity to learn new skills at the same time as taking part in a therapeutic activity reflecting on past experiences. It was also a chance to empower individuals by giving them control of materials and design.
