A series of hands on, interactive arts workshops inspired by the art and landscape of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park (YSP) focus upon community engagement for older people with mental health difficulties.
Participants are encouraged to engage with a wide range of materials including clay, plaster, wood and other materials during the workshops in order to creatively express their thoughts and feelings.
Taking place at YSP over a six month period, two artists from the YSP Learning Team have developed and deliver the workshops, utilising tools to engage older people in meaningful creative activities.
Care professionals from services also received training with a YSP artist educator to support them embedding new skills developed during the workshops into current care practices.
By the end of the series of workshops, participants will have created a resource that shares a photographic and written documentation of the journey they’ve taken and their interpretations of the YSP. It is intended the resource will be used beyond the project, to engage the person who created it in further activities.
