This project will work with targeted groups of female service users or carers and Trust staff through training and skills development, tasters, and a series of varied creative workshops. The group will also host monthly women only, safe, creative celebrations called ‘Women’s voices ring out’ events.
The project will:
• Challenge stereotypes held by participants themselves and wider society that vulnerable women are unable to grow creatively by providing non-threatening opportunities to ‘try’
• Provide the opportunity to showcase work to demonstrate this
• Give a safe space to women to enable them to grow creatively and develop the confidence to participate in creative activity
• Develop people’s skills and voice, encouraging and enabling participants to set up creative peer support groups/opportunities, participate in cultural activities in Wakefield, and use their creative skills to contribute to the local creative culture
