The awards

Excellence 2013 was held on Thursday 7th November 2013 at the Cedar Court hotel in Wakefield.

Over 200 guests were invited to join the celebration including staff from shortlisted entries, service users and carers. Representatives from the Trust’s Members’ Council, partner organisations and associate hospital managers also joined us.

During the evening photographs taken to showcase the work of all the shortlisted entrants were shown, before the winners, highly commended, commended and runners up were announced.

The evening was hosted by Ian Black, Trust Chair and Steven Michael, chief executive. Individual awards were announced by Trust directors, non-executive directors and representatives from our partner organisations.

How were the winners decided?

Staff were invited to make an entry into one of six categories using an online form. Staff from across services as well as service users, Members Council representatives and Non-executive directors volunteered to be part of the judging day in early September.

Entries were divided between judging groups and individuals were asked to score the entries in their category – giving 10 points to their favourite, 8 points to the next and so on.

The scores were then collated to give us the winners, highly commended, commended and runners up.

The winner of winners was then chosen by the Trust’s Chair Ian Black.
