Trust supporting British Food Fortnight

Date:

South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is inviting local people to Wakefield food market on Friday 30th September to get involved in British Food Fortnight.

British Food Fortnight is held annually and this year falls between 17th September and 2nd October, to promote and celebrate the diverse range of food that Britain produces every year.

Activities are planned across the country and in Wakefield the community food and health team have organised a number of cookery demonstrations to showcase recipes using locally grown produce and healthy meal ideas.

The next demonstration will be on Friday 30th September, between 10.00am – 12.00 at the Wakefield food market. The event is free and anyone can come along and get involved.

Sophie Ross-Smith, community food and health worker said "The cookery demonstrations are a great opportunity for people to discover exciting new recipes which use British food that they can buy in the market. During the event we will be demonstrating some great healthy meal ideas, offering free tasters and giving people the opportunity to find out more about healthy eating at our Well point health station."

The community food and health team will also be holding events at Wakefield food market every Friday throughout October including a special event during school half term to get children involved in cooking healthy food. Further information about the activities in Wakefield is available by contacting Sophie Ross-Smith on 01924 361 212
