Smoking Quit-Stop extends opening hours

Date:

Sheffield NHS Stop Smoking Service is extending the opening hours of its city centre Quit-Stop through January to help meet the needs of people who might want to give up smoking as a New Year’s resolution.

For the next four weeks the Quit-Stop will be open late on Thursdays to offer more flexibility to people wanting to stop smoking.

The Quit-Stop offers a free drop-in service where you can speak to a trained stop smoking adviser who will be able to help them on their way to quitting. The Quit-Stop also offers information about the prescriptions that are available.

Normal opening hours for the Quit-Stop are 9am – 4.45pm Monday, Thursday and Friday, Tuesdays 10am to 4.45pm, late opening Wednesday 8am to 7pm and 9.30am – 12.30pm on Saturday.

To give people the opportunity to attend the Quit-Stop after work and increase flexibility the Quit-Stop will also stay open until 5.30pm on Thursday Jan 13th, 20th, 27th and Feb 3rd.

The service is based in Sheffield city centre, just off Pinstone Street, only 2 minutes walk from the Town Hall.

Claire Holden, the service manager at the Sheffield Stop Smoking Service said, "Stopping smoking is the one of the most effective ways of improving your health and free help is available to help you quit from our Sheffield NHS Stop Smoking Service. Figures show you’re four times more likely to quit smoking for good if you use a local service and we hope the flexible opening hours of our Quit-Stop will make it even easier for people to stop smoking this year."
