CREATIVITY IS THE AIM

Date:

Clients at the Castle Hill Unit, Huddersfield are inviting the public to view their creative talents, with an exhibition of artwork.

The exhibition will be held at the Laurence Batley Theatre, Huddersfield, between the 5th and 12th January 2004. It will feature a variety of large colourful banners that were created during art workshops run by AIM, (Artists in Mind) an arts in mental health charity.

AIM spent seven weeks working with clients in the Castle Hill Unit, which is run by the South West Yorkshire Mental Health NHS Trust. Anybody was welcome to go along and join in with the workshops. ‘Personal journeys’ were a key focus of the project, with many of the final pieces including personal references, such as expressions of religious and cultural identities.

AIM has received positive feedback from all participants. Speaking about the project, one client said, ‘The last seven weeks have helped me greatly towards my recovery and I have really enjoyed working with everyone.’
