999 years for long serving NHS staff in Wakefield

Date:

Long serving staff from the South West Yorkshire Mental Health Trust have racked up a massive 999 years NHS service between them.

Their hard work and dedication was recognised at a special event held at Fieldhead today, where they received certificates and gift vouchers.

One member of staff who received her long service award, to mark 25 years of service, is Carol Radley, a therapy assistant from the Yorkshire centre for psychiatry, Fieldhead.

Carol spent 16 years working with people with learning disabilities on the Fieldhead site before moving to Heath Unit and Newton Lodge, part of the Yorkshire centre for psychiatry.

"I like my job – I’m really lucky. I’ve worked on the Fieldhead site for 25 years so I’ve seen lots of changes! I’ve worked with people with learning disabilities and people with mental health problems – I enjoy working with different client groups. It’s very rewarding when you get people back into the community or get people doing things they’ve lost touch with. There is also excellent team work between nurses and occupational therapy staff," says Carol.

Chairman Sukhdev Sharma who presented the awards said, "I am very proud of the dedication and commitment of all these staff. Their hard work helps our Trust provide the highest quality of care for people with mental health problems and learning disabilities. I am very privileged to meet and personally thank all these members of staff for their years of long service, to both our Trust and the NHS."
