New café opens at Fieldhead

Date:

Service users, staff, carers and visitors at Fieldhead, Wakefield can now enjoy a relaxing cuppa at the new Fieldhead café and shop.

The café has moved from its old location to new premises next to Fieldhead museum. The museum will open as normal every Wednesday 10am-4.30pm.

Speaking at the opening event, where customers were given free drinks and mince pies, manageress Chris Colley said, ‘The new premises are lovely, the plan is to landscape some ground outside too so there will be a sitting out area. Everybody has been impressed so far!’

The café sells newspapers, greetings cards, stationary, drinks, snacks and toiletries and is open to everyone. ‘The café is social area as well as a shop, it’s a place to bring visitors or come for a chat. I’ve been here for 21 years now and I get to know everyone and their families and what’s going on in their lives!’ says Chris.

The new-look café was built in just 10 days by the facilities department. ‘I’d like to say a big thank you to Sue Larrad and everyone at facilities who have worked so hard to build the new premises. They’ve done a fabulous job!’ Chris added.

The café will be open Mon to Thurs 8.30 – 12.00, 12.30 – 3.30 and Friday 8.30 – 1.00.
