Halifax celebrates World Mental Health Day!

Date:

South West Yorkshire Mental Health Trust is inviting everyone to come and join Calderdale’s World Mental Health Day celebrations at the Voluntary Action Resource Centre, Hall Street, Halifax on Friday 13th October, 10-3pm.

Visitors to the event will have the chance to relax and unwind with reflexology, Tai Chi and aromatherapy. There will also be drama and graffiti workshops on offer and displays of art work by people who use mental health services.

A variety of voluntary, health and social care organisations will be holding stalls on the day providing information, advice and support on mental health issues.

The event is one of many celebrations taking place across South West Yorkshire Mental Health Trust and around the world that aim to build awareness around mental health issues and help to remove the stigma that surround mental illness.

PALS (patient advice and liaison) manager Linda O’Gorman – who has helped to organise the event – says, "This will be an exciting event which will raise awareness of mental health issues in Calderdale. World mental health day is a brilliant opportunity to show the positive side of mental health and celebrate mental wellbeing. We hope that lots of local people will come and join in the fun!"

Elim church, Hall Street have also offered the use of their building and lunch and some activities will be taking place here. The event and lunch are both free of charge. For further details ring the voluntary action resource centre on 01422 348777.
