Local NHS shares good practice on mental health medicines

Date:

South West Yorkshire Mental Health Trust has hosted a special training event to enable mental health professionals from all over North England to explore current developments in mental health medication management and non medical prescribing.

The training day attracted specialist nurses, pharmacists and therapy staff from across Yorkshire & Humberside, the midlands and the North West and was a great success.

The day included talks from a number of speakers, including guest speakers from Australia and Scotland who gave updates on current practice and progress in mental health medicines management. A variety of workshops also took place which enabled attendees to participate in more detailed discussion and learn about specific developments in medicines management.

Consultant nurse Richard Clibbens helped organise the day on behalf of the Trust and said, "The day provided staff with a unique opportunity to network with clinical and academic staff from across the North of England and share good practice in the development of effective medicines management and non medical prescribing for service users and carers. The day was a huge success and gave insight into the issues surrounding medicines management and how it can be improved."
