A little Christmas spirit makes a big difference

Date:

There was definitely a festive vibe across the Trust at Christmas time and the Nabcroft Unit at St Luke’s Hospital in Huddersfield was no exception. The unit hosted a special Christmas party to raise funds for both the Nabcroft day unit, which provides mental health services to older people and the Lindley special care unit, which provides learning disability services to 18-65 year olds.

The party attracted people who use services, as well as their carers, friends and relatives and was a big success. There was plenty of entertainment including a carol-singing choir, a chocolate fountain, a raffle, tombola, jewellery stall and cake stall. People who use services at St Luke’s had also made Christmas cards and calendars to sell.

All in all £775 was raised, which was a real result for the units that benefitted from the proceeds. A big thank you goes to the Trust’s transport service, Caring for You Ltd who not only organised and facilitated the event, but also donated £100 to the cause.

Contract manager for Caring for you Dan Bowyer said, ‘The party was a real success and everyone seemed to be having a fantastic time. We had a raffle with some great prizes including 6 Christmas hampers, a Christmas cake and vouchers for Toby’s Restaurant.’
