Local carers get festive at Christmas party!

Date:

Members of a carers group who meet regularly at Fieldhead Hospital in Wakefield celebrated the festive season today at a special Christmas party.

The carers mental health link dialogue group was set up by South West Yorkshire Mental Health NHS Trust to give carers a voice and allow them to communicate their needs and get information about how they can access help and support.

The party was held after one of the normal meetings and gave carers the chance to have a well earned break, relax and enjoy themselves.

Carer Susan Hill attended the Christmas party and said, "Not only have we celebrated Christmas, but all the positive things that have come out of the dialogue group too. The party was a real social event and great fun. It does us all good to get away from our caring duties for a while."

PALS and public involvement development worker Lynn Fowley said, "The carers dialogue group is such a useful source of information for the Trust. Communicating with these very important people helps us tailor our services to meet the needs of the people we serve. The Christmas party was a great opportunity for us all to come together and take time out from all the hard work we have put into the group."
