Christmas party raises funds for local hospital

Date:

A Christmas party has been held at St Luke’s Hospital as a way of raising funds for two local mental health and learning disability units, run by South West Yorkshire Mental Health Trust.

The party was organised by the company that provides transport for the Trust, Caring for you Ltd. It attracted people who use services across South West Yorkshire Mental Health Trust as well as their carers, friends and relatives.

The party offered an array of entertainment including a carol-singing choir, a chocolate fountain, a raffle, tombola, jewellery stall and cake stall. People who use the Trust’s services also made Christmas cards and calendars to sell at the event.

Contract manager for Caring for you Dan Bowyer said, "The party was a real success and everyone seemed to be having a fantastic time. We had a raffle with some great prizes including 6 Christmas hampers, a Christmas cake and vouchers for Toby’s Restaurant."

The event raised £775 in total, £100 of which was donated by Caring for you Ltd. The proceeds will be split between the Nabcroft day unit, which provides mental health services to older people and the Lindley special care unit, which provides learning disability services to 18-65 year olds.
