Newton Lodge sing in Christmas

Date:

Clients at Newton Lodge, Fieldhead, got into the festive spirit this winter by joining forces with the local arts company Yew Tree.

Yew Tree is a theatre arts organisation specialising in working with young people to produce drama at the same time as building confidence and self esteem.

With the help of the theatre group staff and patients devised a performance which was performed ahead of Christmas in the main dining area of Newton Lodge.

The work incorporated as many patients as possible in as many fields as possible from acting, singing, playing instruments to DJing, art and baking.

There was a massive turnout with around 80 people attending including chief executive Steven Michael and chair Joyce Catterick.

Acting senior clinical practitioner Trevor Jones, who helped organise the event, said, "What we hoped to achieve was a sense of unity and celebration in the unit. Everyone had a great time and it was a wonderful opportunity for people to enjoy themselves with some festive activities. "

Steven Michael added, "It was a great event and it was clear to see all the hard work everyone had put in"”
