Local people invited to take their best shot

Date:

The South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, which provides mental health and learning disability services to the people of Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield, is inviting local people to "take their best shot" as part of the Like minds photography competition.

Like minds is a magazine produced entirely in-house by the Trust’s communication team for the 14,000 local people who are Trust members. It contains a mixture of service developments and staff news, service user and carer stories, snippets of national mental health and learning disability news, the latest foundation trust news and also tips on how to look after your mental wellbeing.

Entry to the latest photo competition is now open and any Trust member can enter for free. Entrants are asked to take a photograph under the theme of tranquillity. This could be a picture of a person or an animal in a tranquil state, a landscape or even a nice hot bubble bath or a burning candle.

But tranquillity means something different to everyone so it’s up to the photographer how they interpret the theme.

To enter the competition members are asked to send in just one photo to arrive by 1st May 2010. Winning photos will be printed in the next Like minds and may also be used in Trust publications, displayed on the Trust’s website and at a members’ photography exhibition.

You can email your entry to photo@swyt.nhs.uk or put it in the post to Like minds photography competition, Communications, Fieldhead, Ouchthorpe Lane, Wakefield, WF1 3SP.

Entrants are reminded to include their name and the name of their entry and that only one photo can be entered per person.

For more information about the competition or for more information about how to become a member contact the membership office at membership@swyt.nhs.uk or 01924 327567.
