Local people invited to NHS Trust’s annual meeting

Date:

People across Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield are being invited to South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s annual members’ meeting to mark the start of wellbeing month.

The meeting will be a chance for members and local people to find out more about the Trust, which is the local provider of mental health and learning disability services, to hear a review of the past year, including the Trust’s financial performance, and to learn more about the work the Trust does including the use of creativity.

The meeting will be an opportunity to have a say on the Trust’s plans for the future and hear about forthcoming events. Nearly 14,000 local people are already members of the Trust, but this is an opportunity for other members of the public to find out about becoming a member and how they can help shape the future of local mental health and learning disability services.

Trust Chair, Joyce Catterick, said, “We’d like to extend a warm welcome to people to come along to our meeting, meet NHS staff and learn more about our Trust. The annual members’ meeting is also a time to reflect on the achievements of staff and people who use our services, and we are celebrating this at our meeting through an art exhibition of service user artwork and photography. We are delighted to exhibit this work as a celebration of the many creative activities that take place across our services as part of the care we offer and through service user-led initiatives.”

The meeting will be held at 5.30pm on Tuesday 5 October 2010 in the café area on the 5th Floor of F Mill, Dean Clough, Halifax, HX3 5AX. Light refreshments will be served from 5pm and refreshments will also be available after the meeting.

The annual members’ meeting and art exhibition are some of the first events to be held as part of the Trust’s Wellbeing Month. All the artwork, poetry and photography that will be on display have been created by people who use Trust services across Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield

Wellbeing Month will run from 1 to 31 October 2010 in support of World Mental Health Day 2010. The month is an opportunity to promote mental health issues and celebrate wellbeing. During wellbeing month there will be activities led by the Trust, throughout the areas of Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield all with the aim of getting people involved in activities and events that boost wellbeing.
