Opportunity to gain an insight into dementia
An NHS trust that provides specialist NHS services is inviting local people to a series of free talks offering an insight into dementia.
The education talks are being held by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and are an opportunity for local people to find out more about mental health problems.
Led by Dr Nisreen Booya, the Trust’s medical director, the events are an educational talk on a particular condition, followed by time for questions. The events are free and are open to anybody, so local people are invited to come along with friends, colleagues or family.
The second topic in the series is on dementia, and it is being held at Halifax Library, Northgate House on Wednesday 8th June. However, the talk will also be given at future dates in Huddersfield, Dewbsury and Wakefield. Events are planned right up until October 2011.
Local residents can come to whichever date or venue suits them best:

•Tuesday 19th July, Hudawi Centre, Great Northern Street, Huddersfield, HD1 6BG
•Wednesday 31st August, Dewsbury Sports Centre, Longcauseway, Dewsbury, WF12 8EN
•Wednesday 5th October, Elizabethan Gallery, 45 Brook Street, Wakefield, WF1 3AE
All events begin with refreshments at 6.30pm and the talk will commence at 7pm. The event will end at 8pm.
Dr Booya, the Trust’s medical director, said, "Anyone is welcome to come along to find out a little more about dementia, which currently affects 750,000 people in the UK. Whether you are student at a local university or college, you know someone who suffers from dementia or you simply want to gain an insight into common mental health problems, please join us."
