Barnsley event offers an insight into bipolar

A local NHS trust that provides mental health and community services is inviting people in and around Barnsley to a free talk offering an insight into bipolar disorder on Tuesday 20th September at The Core, County Way, Barnsley, S70 2JW.

The education talk is being held by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and is an opportunity for local people to find out more about a common mental health problem.

Led by the Trust’s medical director Dr Nisreen Booya, the event is an educational talk on bipolar disorder, also known as manic depression, followed by time for questions. The event is free and is open to anybody, so local people are invited to come along with friends, colleagues or family.

This is the first event being held in Barnsley as part of the Trust’s educational events series with future events covering dementia and diabetes. Local people can come to whichever date or venue suits them best:

•Tuesday 20th September at The Core, County Way, Barnsley, S70 2JW (Bipolar disorder)

•Wednesday 28th September at the Metrodome, Queens Ground, Queens Road, Barnsley, S71 1AN (Diabetes)

•Tuesday 11th October at the Metrodome, Queens Ground, Queens Road, Barnsley, S71 1AN (Diabetes)

•Tuesday18th October at The Core, County Way, Barnsley, S70 2JW (Dementia)

All events begin with refreshments at 6.30pm and the talk will commence at 7pm. The event will end at 8pm.

Dr Booya, the Trust’s medical director, said, "Anyone is welcome to come along to find out a little more about one of this common mental health problem that can affect so many people. Whether you are a student at a local university or college, you know someone who suffers from bipolar or you simply want to gain an insight into this mental health problem, please join us."
