Trust and Barnsley FC team up to help our heroes

Date:

The NHS recovery and wellbeing team in Barnsley are joining forces with Barnsley Football Club to hold a football fun day in support of Help for Heroes on Sunday 2nd October.

Barnsley FC will be hosting the event at their astroturf facility, while the recovery team, which is provided by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, will be running a range of activities including a 7-a-side football tournament.

The tournament will be made up of service users teams from across the Trust as well as local businesses who are invited to take part, but anybody can come along and show their support and take part in other fundraising activities such as a tombola and bouncy castle.

Proceedings will get underway at 2pm with Barnsley player Bobby Hassell officially opening the event. He will also be on hand for autograph signing in aid of Help for Heroes.

Hannah Geal, the Trust’s recovery and wellbeing sports lead in Barnsley said, "Sport and exercise are excellent ways to help look after both your physical and mental wellbeing and this event is certain to be a great day. Football helps service users on their road to recovery by providing a focus as well as increasing motivation and giving them an opportunity to be part of something positive."

Anybody who would like to make a donation or offer a raffle prize should contact event organiser Hannah Geal on 01226 434799.
