Public invited to members’ meeting at the Hepworth Gallery

Local people are being invited to South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s annual members’ meeting on Tuesday 1 November. The Trust provides a range of mental health and community services in Barnsley, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield and over 11,000 local people have joined as a member.

The meeting will be a chance for anyone with an interest in health services to find out more about the Trust, hear a review of the past year, including the Trust’s financial performance, and learn more about Foundation Trusts, including how to become a member.

This year, the annual members’ meeting will be on the same day as the Creative Minds launch (Tuesday 1 November) at the Hepworth Gallery, Gallery Walk, Wakefield, WF1 5AW.

Creative Minds is a programme of work that focuses on creativity to achieve high quality outcomes for service users.

The use of creative activities in healthcare has been shown to increase self-esteem, provide a sense of purpose, develop social skills, help community integration and improve quality of life. The Trust recognises these benefits and its Creative Minds strategy underlines its commitment to having a creative approach to service delivery.

Speaking about the event the Trust’s Chair Joyce Catterick said, "This year’s annual members’ meeting will be a great opportunity to find out more about the new services that have joined the Trust as part of the Government’s Transforming Community Services agenda. We are already seeing how this broad range of services is benefitting people in the communities we serve and we’d like to invite local people to join us.

"Not only will we be speaking about existing and new services, but also our new strategy, Creative Minds, which will be launched on the same day. The Trust is committed to using creative approaches to help people who use our services and this event will be a great way to showcase some of the work that has already taken place and to highlight our plans for the future. We’d like to extend a warm welcome to people to come along to our meeting, meet NHS staff and learn more about our Trust."
