Nominate your nurse of the year

Date:

Has a nurse, midwife, health visitor or healthcare assistant made a real difference to you or a loved one? Now’s your chance to say thank you by nominating them for a Nursing Standard award.

Local people who use services provided by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust are being urged to nominate a nurse for this year’s Nursing Standard, the Patient’s Choice Award 2012 to highlight and reward outstanding practice within the nursing profession.

Last year, Nursing Standard received almost 200 nominations featuring nurses, patients and families for this very special award, which is named in honour of the well known and much loved nurse, journalist and patient’s champion, Claire Rayner, who died in October 2010.

The Trust’s director of nursing, clinical governance and safety, Noreen Young, said, “Nurses strive to give the best possible care to their patients. This is an excellent opportunity for local people to say thank you to someone who has made a real difference to their lives. Our organisation is full of unsung heroes who work tirelessly to improve the lives of others. This award gives people the chance to say thank you to nurse, midwife, health visitor or healthcare assistant and recognise the vital work they do every day.”

To nominate a nurse, midwife, health visitor or healthcare assistant, visit www.patients-choice.co.uk or call 020 8423 1066 to request an entry form. The closing date for nominations is 16 December 2011.

After voting closes, an expert panel of judges will select three finalists. Members of the public will then be invited to vote for the nurse to receive the accolade. The winner will receive their award – including a prize of £1,000 – at a prestigious ceremony in London on 22 March 2012.
