Sheffield stop smoking team unveils city centre poster sites

Date:

Sheffield NHS Stop Smoking Service has unveiled new poster sites around the city centre to direct people towards its smoking Quit-Stop.

The posters are in key locations throughout the city centre and aim to reach people as they go to and from work or when they are out and about.

The Stop Smoking Service, which is run by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, has a city centre Quit-Stop that offers a free drop-in service where people can speak to a trained stop smoking adviser who will be able to help them on their way to quitting.

The Quit-Stop, which is based at 39 Charles Street, just off Pinstone Street and only 2 minutes walk from the Town Hall, also offers information about the smoking cessation medications that are available.

It is hoped the new poster sites will help direct people to the Quit-Stop and help them see there’s a place that can help them stop smoking for good in a really easy to reach location.

Normal opening hours for the Quit-Stop are 9am – 4.45pm Monday, Thursday and Friday, Tuesdays 10am to 4.45pm, late opening Wednesday 8am to 7pm and 9.30am – 12.30pm on Saturday.

The Quit-Stop will also stay open until 5.30pm on Thursday Jan 13th, 20th, 27th and Feb 3rd, to give workers more flexibility to attend the Quit-Stop after work.

Claire Holden, the service manager at Sheffield Stop Smoking Service said, "We hope these poster sites will signpost people directly to the Quit-Stop to find out more about help to stop smoking. We hope they will raise awareness of the local NHS Stop Smoking Service, which is free and available to everyone. No appointment’s necessary and if you’re in town it’s easy as we’re just round the corner."
