Only a few days left to make a nomination for local NHS Trust elections
Local people are being reminded that they only have until the 22 February to sign up to be part of South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Members’ Council elections.
Nominations to stand for election to the Members’ Council close on Wednesday 22nd February 2012 and local people are being encouraged to stand for one of the publicly elected seats.
Nominations for public seats in the following constituencies are being invited: • Barnsley – 2 seats • Kirklees – 3 seats • Wakefield – 3 seats The Trust’s 4600 members of staff are also being encouraged to stand for one of the vacant staff seats.
The Members’ Council represents the views of the Trust’s 16,500 members and ensures that the board of directors, which retains responsibility for the day to day running of the Trust, is accountable to the local community.
The Council is made up of publicly elected members, elected staff representatives and appointed representatives from key local partner organisations.
To stand for election, please obtain a nomination form from Electoral Reform Services Limited on 020 8365 8909. Nomination papers must be returned by 12 noon on Wednesday 22nd February 2012. All public members of the Trust will then have the opportunity to vote in the elections.
The Trust’s chief executive Steven Michael said, "The Members’ Council is a vital part of the Trust, it helps us to shape future strategy and plays a key role in issues such as communications, diversity and involvement. I would encourage anyone interested in making a difference to the NHS services in their local communities to consider standing for election."
