Local people invited to find out how to boost their health and wellbeing

Date:

Staff in two Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) in Barnsley are inviting local people who use mental health services to a special health and wellbeing event on Thursday 19th April.

The Dearne and South Community Mental Health Teams, which are provided by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, provide assessment and community treatment to adults and older people with mental health problems.

The health and wellbeing event will be held at the Community Centre, Prospect Road, Bolton-on-Dearne, Barnsley from 10am until 12 noon. The event is an opportunity for people who access mental health services in Barnsley to find out more about help available to them to maintain and boost their health, mental wellbeing and physical wellbeing.

During the event people will be offered free blood pressure checks, the opportunity to have their BMI (body mass index) measured and time to explore information stalls featuring information about a number of health topics including weight management and stopping smoking.

Nicola Speight, recovery and wellbeing practitioner at the Trust said, "This event will be a great opportunity for local people to find out more about how they can boost their health and wellbeing in relation to their particular needs and have the opportunity to talk to staff from a number of different services who will be available on the information stalls throughout the morning."

This event is open to anyone who uses mental health services in Barnsley.
