The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games come to Fieldhead

Date:

To give people who use inpatient services at Fieldhead in Wakefield, their carers and staff who are based at the site, the opportunity to get involved in this summers Olympic and Paralympic Games, a special triple event celebration was held in May.

The event, which was attended by people from units across the facility and staff, challenged people to get involved in three sporting competitions – boccia bowling, new age curling and a target challenge.

All participants were awarded certificates and medals for taking part and representatives from the Trust’s health and wellbeing development team in Wakefield were on hand to guide people through the competitions and keep score.

Lynn Fowley, equality and inclusion coordinator at the Trust said, “The triple event was organised to engage service users, carers and staff to challenge and improve their wellbeing. Our aim is to get people interested in activities that they will continue to pursue well after London 2012 has finished.

“We have also organised a woodland walk in July at Fieldhead and will be encouraging people to take part in the health and wellbeing team’s Great North Row challenge – they are aiming to get as many people involved and together row the distance from Wakefield to London!”
