South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is proud to support a new campaign to promote the work of nurses across the country.

This is nursing is an initiative by the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) which aims to increase understanding of the skill and expertise, care and compassion essential to high quality nursing. Focusing on the challenges faced by nurses on a daily basis, the campaign includes a dedicated website supported by a widespread advertising campaign.

South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, which provides mental health, learning disability and community services across Barnsley, Calderdale, Kirklees andWakefield, employs more than two and a half thousand nursing staff in a range of fields.

Dawn Thomas, assistant director of nursing, said, “This is nursing highlights the balance of skill and compassion that our nurses show every day as they go about their work.

“Being a nurse requires not only the utmost professionalism, but a real understanding of what a patient needs or wants. A brilliant nurse can make such a difference to a patient’s overall experience of the NHS and we are fortunate to have so many dedicated nurses within South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

“The Trust is proud to support This is nursing in recognition of all our nursing staff as well as the hundreds of thousands of nurses across the country.”
