Creative Minds Live – express your creativity in Kirklees

Date:

Local people in Kirklees are invited to Creative Minds Live – a celebration of creative approaches used by NHS teams throughout the district on Monday 19th November at the Packhorse Gallery in Huddersfield.

Creative Minds Live will be taking place from 12 noon to 3pm and will showcase projects and initiatives that have been developed throughout 2012 as part of South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s Creative Minds strategy.

During the event, people will be able to get involved with workshops and taster sessions of different creative activities including a sing-a-long, arts and crafts and boccia bowling. There will also be the opportunity for people to hear a performance from a guitar orchestra and watch a performance by hoot a local arts and health organisation that uses music and dance to improve people’s physical and emotional wellbeing.

The Trust’s Creative Minds strategy was introduced in November 2011 to recognise it’s commitment to having a creative approach to service delivery and to promote more opportunities for individuals and groups to develop creatively.

Steven Michael, the Trust’s chief executive said, “The Creative Minds Live events are an opportunity to showcase the different projects which have been running in our local communities to involve people in creative activity. Creative approaches have been proven to achieve high quality outcomes for people who use health services by boosting self-esteem and confidence, creating the opportunity for people to engage with those around them, and helping to break down barriers between staff and service users.”

The Creative Minds Live event is open to everyone and there is no need to book a place.

Further details about the event and the projects that will be featured are available on the website or by contacting the Trust’s inclusion team via inclusion@swyt.nhs.uk or calling 01924 328656.
