Creative Minds Live in Wakefield

Date:

Local people with learning difficulties in Wakefield are invited to a fun, free musical event as part of Creative Minds Live, a celebration of creative approaches used by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust over the last year.

Bipinz Muzikal Xtravaganza takes place on Friday 23rd November 2012 in Fieldhead’s Social Hall, Ouchthorpe Lane, Wakefield, from 10am until 2pm. Refreshments will be available before musical and dance performances of classic and contemporary songs. A complimentary lunch will be followed by a ‘music and movement’ hour for everyone.

The Muzikal Xtravaganza is part of a series of events taking place this month to mark a year since the Trust’s Creative Minds strategy was introduced, recognising its commitment to having a creative approach to service delivery and to promote more opportunities for individuals and groups to develop creatively.

Steven Michael, the Trust’s chief executive said, “The Creative Minds Live events are an opportunity to showcase the different projects which have been running in our local communities to involve people in creative activity. Creative approaches have been proven to achieve high-quality outcomes for people who use health services by boosting self-esteem and confidence, creating the opportunity for people to engage with those around them, and helping to break down barriers between staff and service users.”

The Creative Minds Live event is open to anybody with a learning disability, their friends, families and carers and there is no need to book a place.

Further details about the event and the projects that will be featured are available on the website or by contacting the Trust’s inclusion team via inclusion@swyt.nhs.uk or calling 01924 328656.
