Get healthy in Barnsley!

Date:

South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is running free Healthy Lifestyle programmes at venues across Barnsley, for children aged 2-13 years old.

The programmes are designed to help children and their families achieve a healthier lifestyle by improving eating habits, increasing physical activity levels and boosting self esteem. Programmes are tailored to the age of the child and include fun activities around healthy eating, physical activity and adopting good habits.

Zoe Styring, manager of Barnsley’s Change 4 Life team, said, “Programmes run for between eight and ten weeks, one session per week. Sessions are focused on helping families to find out about healthy eating, portion control and understanding food labelling. We also run creative play or physical activity workshops during each session.  Children and families taking part receive items such as t-shirts, water bottles and information leaflets, all designed to inspire children to keep up the good work at home”.

New programmes begin in the New Year at a number of venues.
