Ossett event to help boost your health and wellbeing

Date:

A special event is being held in Ossett offering free health checks and gym passes to help local people know what support is available to boost their health and wellbeing.

The event on Tuesday 18th June will take place at Ossett Town Hall in the Court Room between 10 am and 2pm and is being organised by NHS health trainers from South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Health trainers offer support, motivation and encouragement to anyone in the local area that would like to make healthy changes to their lifestyle.

Each health trainer is a qualified specialist that works with people on a one-to-one basis and can help with a variety of issues including weight management, healthy eating, stress, stopping smoking, physical activity and alcohol. They help individuals to set realistic personal goals and find other services that may benefit and help them to maintain the lifelong changes they‘ve made so far.

Activities at the event will include free mini-health checks carried out by health trainers, advice from the stop smoking service, cooking demonstrations by community food and health workers, free gym passes and complimentary therapies.

Information will also be provided by representatives from Carers Wakefield, Connect 3, Right Steps, Maypole Children’s Centre, Well Women and Gasped.

Mark Chadwick, senior health trainer, said: “This is a great opportunity for people in Ossett and surrounding area to learn more about the health resources that are available to them. People can drop-in at any time between 10-2pm to find out more about them and how they can be accessed.”

For more information contact senior health trainer Mark Chadwick on 07795 612663 or health trainer Christus Ferneyhough 07766 244893.
