Trust supporting national NHS Change Day in Kirklees
A local NHS Trust in Kirklees is supporting NHS Change Day – an opportunity for people to do something together that will improve care for people in the NHS.
South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, which provides mental health and learning disability services in Kirklees, is encouraging staff, and those they work in partnership with to provide and use services, to make a pledge to do something that will make a positive difference for patient care.
This year NHS Change Day will be held on Monday 3rd March and you can make your pledge now at www.changeday.nhs.uk
NHS Change Day started in 2012, when a group of staff wanted to do something better together and reached out to others to help them. Over 189,000 pledges have since been made.
Anyone can make a pledge to improve patient care. The Trust’s chief executive Steven Michael has made his – to support the development of talent; in particular to help staff who work at bands 1-4 realise their value through a special programme. You can watch a video of Steven making his pledge and explaining his thoughts around it on the Trust website
Kirstie Stott, an NHS graduate management trainee, working as a strategic planner for the Trust, is leading on Change Day in Yorkshire and Humber. Kirstie explained, “NHS Change Day is a focus for everyone working in the NHS to look at what they do and challenge the status quo to try something simple but different to improve patient care. Pledges can be big or small and not limited to one day of action. Instead they are about making changes that matter in every day practice.
“South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has embraced the ethos of NHS Change Day and I would like to encourage all my colleagues, those who use our services and people in the local community to make their own pledge. If you care, and have an idea you think could help make the NHS a little bit better – or a great deal better – put it down in a pledge.”
