Make ‘Smart Swaps’ with Wakefield food demos

Date:

The Trust’s community food and health team will be at the Demonstration Station in Wakefield’s Food Hall on 4 and 11 February from 10:30am – 2:30pm handing out not only healthy eating advice, but also food and freebies!

The team are getting out and about in the city to support Change4Life’s national ‘Smart Swaps’ campaign, which encourages families to make healthier substitutions for their high-fat and high-sugar favourites.

Change4Life’s ‘Smart Swaps’ are simple and sustainable and include helpful healthy tips such as swapping full-fat milk for semi-skimmed, and full-sugar drinks for low or no sugar drinks.

The team will be showing market-goers that healthy food may cut out fat and sugar, but doesn’t cut out taste! Free samples of food and recipe books to take home and be inspired by will be on offer at their stand.

The community food and health team works across the district demonstrating the benefits of eating a balanced diet, encouraging people to enjoy a healthy lifestyle and run sessions to build knowledge around choosing and cooking healthy food.

Wakefield’s Food Hall can be found on Union Street, next to the bus station.

Follow the team on Facebook to keep up to date with their latest work.
