Gain an insight into learning disabilities in Kirklees

Date:

Local people in Kirklees are invited to attend a free educational talk aimed at giving a professional insight into learning disabilities.

South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, which provides community, mental health and learning disability services in Wakefield, Barnsley, Calderdale and Kirklees, is holding the session as part of a series of ‘Insight into’ talks.

The Kirklees talk will be held at the Hudawi Centre, Huddersfield, on Tuesday 13 May from 6:30pm – 7:30pm. Attendees are encouraged to arrive at least half an hour before the start of the talk for refreshments and registration.

The session will include a talk by Consultant Psychiatrist and Specialist in Learning Disabilities, Dr Bennett Eng, followed by time for questions and queries. The talk is free and open to everyone.

Dr Eng said: “The talks will be a really good opportunity to find out more about learning disabilities and I would encourage anyone to come along. I’m really looking forward to presenting the talk and I will be happy to answer any questions people may have about the subject.”

A number of talks will also take place in other locations where services are delivered by the Trust, including Dean Clough in Halifax on 10 June (7:00pm – 8:00pm). Everyone is welcome to whichever session is most convenient to them.

The talks follow on from a series of successful sessions in 2013 offering an insight into substance misuse and common mental health conditions.

To book a place on any of the sessions, call 01924 328656 or email inclusion@swyt.nhs.uk. Please note that the talks are educational. If you would like to contact the Trust about an individual or service issue please call our customer services team on 0800 587 2108.
