MP to open new stop smoking shop in Doncaster

Date:

Doncaster MP Rosie Winterton will open a new Yorkshire Smokefree NHS quit shop in Doncaster town centre on 1 October 2014.

The shop at 40 Scot Lane will house specialist NHS experts offering face to face advice on quitting smoking. The opening coincides with the first day of Stoptober, the 28 day national smoking challenge.

As well as traditional face to face support, Yorkshire Smokefree, which is run by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, also offers smokers looking to quit the choice of telephone advice and online support using its innovative online support programme.

Smokers in Doncaster can choose just one of the methods of support or all three to increase their chances of successfully quitting.

Yorkshire Smokefree’s new online quit programme is available 24/7 from computers, phones and tablets, and allows users to create personal plans and chat online with qualified advisors. Telephone support is available 7 days a week through extended opening hours, offering motivation and encouragement by phone or text.

Yorkshire Smokefree in Doncaster also offers quitters free nicotine replacement therapy for up to 8 weeks, helping them to make savings of up to £120.

Simon Lister, service manager of Yorkshire Smokefree in Doncaster, said: “We are delighted to open our new quit shop to extend our service offer in Doncaster. If you’ve struggled to quit before, visit our new quit shop and find out how our advisors can help you.

“Yorkshire Smokefree in Doncaster allows you to pick and mix your support, so if you feel that face to face support isn’t for you, our telephone advice or new online support could be what you need to help you quit for good.”
