There’s still time for Stoptober with help from Yorkshire Smokefree

Date:

There’s still time to sign up to Stoptober and quit smoking for good with help from a new, improved and innovative NHS stop smoking service, Yorkshire Smokefree.

Yorkshire Smokefree, which is run by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, makes it even easier for smokers to kick the habit with its range of support which smokers can ‘pick and mix’ to suit their lifestyles.

Stoptober is a national campaign which encourages smokers to give up cigarettes for just 28 days to increase their chances of quitting for good. Yorkshire Smokefree gives smokers in Barnsley, Calderdale, Doncaster, Rotherham, Sheffield and Wakefield the choice of telephone, face to face or online support using its new online support programme, providing access to support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Yorkshire Smokefree’s online support programme allows users to create their own personal plans, set a quit date and chat online with qualified advisors, and is available 24/7 from computers, mobiles and tablets.

Local quit shops in convenient locations also provide more traditional face to face support from qualified advisors, who have already helped thousands of people across the region to successfully stop smoking.

Friendly and approachable NHS experts can also offer motivation and support by phone or text through extended opening hours, 7 days a week.

Steven Michael, chief executive of South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, said: “There’s still time to sign up to the Stoptober initiative to kick start your smokefree journey with the help of our Yorkshire Smokefree service. Figures show that you are four times more likely to quit for good with NHS help. So if you’re thinking about quitting, just get in touch and we’ll find a tailored package of support that suits you.”
