We appoint our new chair

Date:

Angela Monaghan has been appointed as the new chair of our Trust.

Angela joined the Trust in August 2017 as a non-executive director and has over twenty years’ experience of leading charities, social enterprises and NHS bodies, at both regional and national level.

Angela’s most recent role was as chief executive of Martin House, which provides hospice care for children and young adults across north, east and west Yorkshire.

Prior to joining Martin House, Angela was a non-executive director in the NHS and then chair of NHS Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield Primary Care Trusts.

Angela said: “I am inspired by the values-led approach of the Trust and hugely committed to both the services it provides and the NHS as a whole. I hope to be able to use my experience in my new role as chair to ensure the Trust continues to improve and always keep service users and carers at the centre of all it does.

“The Trust is full of committed and dedicated staff who work tirelessly to provide an excellent standard of care to our service users, and I’m looking forward to getting out into our services and seeing for myself the compassion they bring to their work every day.”

Chief executive Rob Webster said: “I would like to thank Ian Black for his leadership of the Trust Board over the past few years. I’m very pleased that we have someone with Angela’s experience and local knowledge to take over the role.

“Our rigorous appointment process has been led by our Members’ Council and involved the public, partners, staff and our black, Asian and minority ethnic network.”

Angela takes over the role from Ian Black who retires at the end of November.
